Make your own Homemade Vegan Pizzas
Pizza is probably the most consumed meal in the world. Since you changed to a plant-based diet, you have trouble to find vegan AND CHEAP pizzas. Don't panic! In this blog post, you will find 4 delicious vegan pizza recipes, with some gluten-free pizza dough, to make at home. Pre-heat your oven and let's go!
4 Traditional and original vegan pizza recipe:
Gluten-Free Homemade Vegan Pizza
Gluten-free pizza dough with vegan topping!! If you don't have any problem with gluten, you can also use your favorite bread. The secret of this recipe is the delicious pizza sauce, that you can use whenever you want, also in other recipes. We recommend you to make a huge batch of this delightful sauce and freeze it in several containers so you'll always have some on hand it for pizza, pasta or else! Ingredients
For the sauce
- 1 whole jar of tomato sauce
- 1 cup of nutritional yeast
- 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped in your food processor
- 2 teaspoons of chipotle powder
- 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons of onion powder
- ½ tablespoon of sea salt
- A good pinch of cayenne pepper depending on how spicy you like it
For the
vegan pizza
- 3 to 4 pieces of gluten-free bread (or whatever you prefer)
- Your favorite ingredients for toppings (olives, mushrooms, zucchinis, etc.)
- 2 to 8 vegan cheese slices
- Italian seasoning to taste
Preparation
- Combine the nuts, nutritional yeast, chipotle, garlic, onion, salt and cayenne pepper in a food processor. Mix until it has a fine "powdery" consistency.
- In a pot, add the tomato jar and let it simmer of 5min.
- Add the powder mix to it and let it simmer another 5min. Turn of the heat and reserve.
- Assemble the pizza: put a nice layer of the sauce on top of the bread and add the veggies topping, vegan cheese, and Italian seasoning. We recommend using black olives, dried tomatoes, and zucchinis.
- Put it in the oven and bake at 375°F (180°C) until golden brown.
Gluten-Free Sweet Potato dough Pizza
When you undertake a vegan diet, there is numerous food that you think you won't be enjoying the same way, such as burgers or pizzas. Thanks to this vegan pizza recipe, you will change your mind! Eat up this gluten-free pizza dough made with a sweet potato than is as good as a regular pizza!
Serving size: 2 to 3 people
Preparation time: 1h20 min
Ingredients
- 1 cup of oat flakes
- 1 big sweet potato
- ⅓ cup of water
- ⅛ cup of olive oil
- Spinach
- Mushrooms or portobello
- 1 jar of tomato sauce
- 1 large onion
- Vegan cheese
- Spices (A pinch of chopped parsley, a pinch of onion powder, a pinch of black pepper, a pinch of oregano, a pinch of rosemary, a pinch of salt)
Preparation
- Peel and cut the raw sweet potato into small cubes and place them in the food processor. Add the olive oil.
- Grind to maximum power until the yellow sweet potato has a thin consistency.
- Add the oat flakes to the sweet potato practically crushed and stir well so that the food processor can grind it. Then add water and restart the processor until the consistency is as homogeneous as possible.
- Remove the mixture from the food processor, place it in a bowl and add your spices (oregano, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and rosemary). Mix well until smooth.
- Place the dough on a tray or round baking pan (with wax paper), making sure the thickness of the dough does not exceed 1 centimeter.
- Bake for about 30 minutes at 275°F (130°C), or until you see that the dough is dry and slightly crispy (but not toasted). The time may vary depending on the type of oven.
- While you bake the dough, prepare the rest of the ingredients: slice the mushrooms or portobello, the onion, and the vegan cheese in thin layers.
- When the dough is dry, remove from the oven. Leave the oven on and prepare your vegan pizza: spread the tomato sauce over the base, a layer of vegan cheese, onion, mushrooms/portobello, and chopped spinach leaves.
- Add a pinch of salt, chopped parsley, another pinch of oregano and a splash of olive oil on top.
- Put the pizza back in the oven and bake for 35 minutes at 150 - 180ºC, until the cheese is melted and the vegetables are golden brown.
Ready to serve! All you have to do is drizzle your favorite hot sauce over the top and enjoy!
Vegetable Tower Pizza
If you like vegetables, there's a chance that this vegan pizza will be your favorite. It's almost like a salad over a pizza base! What's better than veggies toppings on a pizza? Even before becoming vegan, I was always going for vegetarian pizza at the restaurant. And you?
Serving size: 2 to 3 people
Preparation time: 1h20 min
Ingredients
- 1 wholewheat pizza base or any gluten-free option
- 2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 cup of organic pizza sauce (or the one you made in the first recipe)
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder
- 2 tablespoon of oregano
- Around 10 sliced black olives
- ⅓ cup of roasted red pepper (fresh or jarred)
- ½ jar of artichokes (cut into quarters)
- Two handfuls of arugula salad (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the olive oil over the pizza base and spread it evenly.
- Spread the chopped garlic and the pizza sauce evenly over the base. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion and oregano powders over the sauce.
- Finally, cover the pizza with the olives, the roasted red peppers, and the artichokes.
- Follow the baking instructions on the pizza dough package. About 4 minutes before the pizza is completely done baking, take it out of the oven and add the arugula. Let it cook for the remaining 4 minutes and enjoy it.
Vegan & Gluten-Free Mexican Pizza
Wooooow, a fusion recipe!
Imagine, taking the best out of the Mexican and Italian cuisines. Bam! This vegan pizza was born!! Try this delicious recipe if you're looking to experiment something different. And we don't want to put our gluten-intolerant friends aside, so we made this recipe with gluten-free pizza dough.
Serving size: 2 to 3 people
Preparation time: 1h20 min
Ingredients
For the corn base
- A bag of frozen corn
- ¼ of a diced white onion
- 1 drop of oregano essential oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- Himalayan sea salt and black pepper to taste
Your pizza toppings
- 1 can of black beans
- 4 roasted red peppers
- 1 avocado
- 1 small red onion
- A handful of chopped cilantro
- 2 romaine lettuce leaves
- 5 drops of basil essential oil
- 3 drops of lemon essential oil
The vegan cheese
- 1 cup of overnight soaked cashew nuts
- ¼ cup of nutritional yeast (you may need to add a little more after processing if it is too thick)
- 1 drop of basil essential oil (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- Himalayan Sea Salt
Preparation
The Corn base
- Place all ingredients in the food dehydrator. Spread evenly on the tray and dehydrate for 10 to 12 hours.
- If you don't have a dehydrator and would like to use the corn base, you can choose to fry it with coconut oil.
The vegan cheese
- Place the ingredients in the food processor and mix until you get the ideal texture.
The pizza
- Mash the black beans into a thick paste.
- Place the roasted red peppers on top of beans.
- Cup the avocado, cilantro, and red onion into small pieces, place them in a bowl and spread the essential oils on top, mix well and place the mixture on top of the pizzas.
- Add the raw cheese to the top at the end.
There you go, enjoy the best "tortizza" of your life.
