2020 resolutions? I have some great tips for you to get on track.
Let's go through 10 easy-to-apply and effective tips that will help you make significant positive changes in your life. Let's get to work!
What we will go through:
So first things first. What do you want to achieve? Is it weight loss? Is it building up muscle mass? Or is it reducing sugar intake to a minimum? Whatever your goals are, it's really important that they are clear for you.
Go ahead and write your goals down on paper.
Now that you know what you want to accomplish, it's time you put some thought into how you're going to achieve it.
Start by setting a date on which you'd like to see your goals met. This will help you realize that this is achievable, it isn't a dream! You have to be very honest and realistic with yourself, take into account that everything's a process and it takes time.
Let's say that you want to lose 20lbs in 4 months.
Aim to lose 5lb each month by jogging for 30 minutes from Monday to Friday and by getting rid (once and for all) of the junk food in your house.
Make a list with a checkbox to track your progress. This way, you can mark as "done" whatever goal you achieved! If you fail to meet your goal then adjust it.
What you are trying to achieve is not a diet or a 30 days challenge, it involves making changes in order to benefit your health and lifestyle in the long-term, so it's important to adopt habits you can maintain and that are easy enough for you to repeat daily.
For example, if you consider yourself a beginner, I recommend you to start with small objectives, such as going to the gym 3 days a week, drinking enough water a day, not eating more than one sweet per week, etc. These might seem like little changes at first, but trust me, in the long term, these small adjustments can give you great results. Later, you can keep adding more complex goals on your list as you progress on your timeline.
When talking about exercising, it is important that you create a workout plan or get one created for you based on your objectives and follow it during a minimum period of 1 month in order to see some results and allow the habit to be created.
Don't forget that perseverance plays a big part in this process, as it'll allow you to see better results and keep a steady process in your exercise plan by adding a bit of weight here, more reps there, etc.
If you don't know how to start, don't be shy! Ask a qualified trainer to help you out with developing a workout plan that helps you achieve your goals.
Just like training, what you eat plays a fundamental part in staying healthy. It is very important to know exactly what and how much we're eating. No matter what your goals are, you should take some time in the weekend to meal-prep, this will keep you healthy and with more money in your pocket.
Instead of buying processed food at lunchtime or eating out at restaurants every day, make healthier choices and stick to homemade food.

Most people don't drink the recommended minimum amount of water per day and this affects a lot of internal body functions, as well as the results you might expect from a fat-loss or muscle gain plan.
Remember we're made out of 60% water! Drinking is really important for your body to function optimally. Try to have at least 1 to 2 liters of water a day and add minerals to the water you drink. It doesn't have to be still water all the time, tea counts too!
Did you think your muscles were only built at the gym? Well, not really.
Muscle fibers regenerate and grow while we sleep. Killing yourself with an intense training session must be paired with a night of proper night sleep. If you fail to do so you won't see the results you're expecting. Aim to sleep 6 to 8 hours a day.
Finding and doing activities that make you happy and relax you will help you keep stress levels to a minimum. Meditation and breathing techniques are highly recommended in order to control your stress levels.
You can't improve what you don't measure. An easy way of measuring progress is by taking "before and after" pictures and measure your waist, hips, arms, etc.
You can repeat this process every 15 to 30 days, this will help you to keep track of your progress, which will also allow you to know which exercises are actually working for you, and which ones need a little adjustment.
Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!
Don't be so hard on yourself and be patient. Trust me, hard and disciplined work always pays out.
Embrace the journey, enjoy and celebrate every single one of your achievements. Stop comparing yourself to others and be aware that these are changes you want to make in order to improve your life quality!
That said - give everything you've got, and don't give up!
If you want to live a healthier life, it's always good to surround yourself with supportive acquaintances. Friends that have the same positive and healthy mindset as yourself will keep you on track and bring you up if for some reason you start feeling a bit down. Keep these kinds of people close and avoid the bad ones, it might just be what you need to maintain your new lifestyle.
Support doesn't necessarily come from acquaintances that are physically close to you. You can find the support you are looking for in online forums like Reddit and Facebook Groups too!
Everything you need to achieve what you want is already within you, so keep moving, trust yourself and your ability to achieve whatever you want. Get disciplined and focus on your goals and priorities. By managing your time and establishing an effective routine you'll be able to reach your goals.
You can do this!
